THROUGH THE VIEWFINDER

A project that would inspire my move into photographic film, “Through the viewfinder” is one of the most important and personal projects i’ve made. i went around nashville with my digital camera and an old brownie camera a friend gave to me a long time ago. on the top of the brownie is a flip up prism that allows you to see through the camera. this was relatively advanced technology in the early 20th century, so i decided to combine old tech with new by taking my r5 and shooting downwards through it. this allowed me to get gritty textures, aberration, distortion, and the true black border you can’t get without the technique.
